5 - 10 minuten
Battery in mid-2010 Macbook Pro was draining rapidly. Battery icon indicated that battery needed servicing. I read online that others had fixed similar battery problems by replacing battery with the battery sold by iFixit.
The repair went beautifully. Easy to follow instructions on iFixit website. I ordered the battery and the recommended tripod screwdriver for the internal screws. I had a tiny phillips that worked fine on the external case screws. Followed the instructions on iFixit and had no problems. Took about 15 minutes. Computer works great now.
I followed the advice of others and printed off a picture of the back of the computer case. Then I put tape (sticky side out) over the pictured screws. As I removed the screws, I placed them on the corresponding piece of tape on the picture. The screws stayed put, and I knew exactly where the screws went when replacing. Order the recommended tripod screwdriver from iFixit to remove the internal screws that hold the battery in place. The normal household will not have anything that will work on these screws. I didn't realize it with my first order; therefore, I started the repair and realized I needed the special screwdriver. Had to close the computer back up, do a second order for the tripod screwdriver and wait for it to arrive to complete the repair. While the items from iFixit arrived rapidly, it would have been better to have ordered with the battery order. Word to the wise...it is amazing how dusty the inside of the computer was when the back was lifted. Fan was very dusty. Ordered the hand dust blower (bulb type) with the tripod screwdriver, which worked like a charm as well. Relatively inexpensive fix that resulted in extending my computer's life. Thank you, iFixit!
