Worked like a charm!

Mijn probleem

Through lots of googling, determined that my hard drive cable was failing. Of course this happened the day before we went on vacation for two weeks and I need my laptop for school. No repair place around me carried the hard drive cable, nor would they pop the back off and test my hard drive for me to confirm if it was the cable or not. I didn't have the time to drop my laptop off while they did a diagnostic that took days and cost $40 just for the diagnostic and definitely didn't have time to drive all the way to Syracuse, an hour and a half away to the nearest Apple store to have them fix it. So I was stuck on a two week long trip with a laptop that decided when and if it was going to work, came back from the trip and managed to turn in my big research assignment before it took it's final dump on me. I ordered the cable from you guys on the 21st and opted for the cheapest shipping, I'm located all the way in NY and the cable arrived three days later! I wasn't expecting for at least a week, if I remember correctly.

Mijn oplossing

Along with the step by step guide you have on your page with the part, I had watched a video on youtube while waiting for the cable to arrive, practiced the steps with the busted cable so I would be able to put in the new one when it got here.

Considering the fact that until this happened, I have never even popped the back off my Mac myself, I was able to easily put in the new cable and I am back up and running. Took maybe 15 minutes to replace? For a mere $52! I can only imagine what that would have cost me if I had taken it to a "pro".

The pics: 1st pic is just a shot of the faulty cable. 2nd is the hard drive and cable removed and the new one in the package ready to go in and the 3rd pic is one happy Macbook Pro after the new cable was put in, good as new! So nice not to see the Flashy Folder of Doom when turning it on!

Mijn advies

You guys are awesome. Will for sure be ordering again in the future. (Hopefully for *wants* like a larger HD, and not because something else decided to die). This saved my sanity and was able to finish out my class without a huge headache of having to worry about being Mac-less and having to resort to using the dino-desktop. The whole process was way less intimidating than I imagined it would be and I'm glad I did it myself with the help of your page!
