Mijn probleem
After four years, I finally upgraded my phone and gave my old iPhone 3GS to my daughter for her first iPhone. However, after switching on the service to the phone, we discovered the battery only held the charge for about 30 mins. I turned to iFixIt to figure out how to replace the battery.
Mijn oplossing
I followed the steps one by one and everything went well. However, I realized I did not follow the steps one by one to put the phone back together. Everything worked, except the ear piece. I figured there must be a loose connection and took the display off again. I realized I had skipped the step about connecting wire 3. Unfortunately, the video and picture on this site were not that helpful. I scoured the Internet for other videos until I figured out the trick of lifting the locking mechanism. Mine had the opposite colors from the picture so all of the textual description made no sense to me.
Mijn advies
I learned a tip from an Apple repair guy. I lay out a strip of painters tape. As I take a screw, I put it on the painters tape from left to right. It helps to secure the screws while I am working on the phone and keeps the screws in order so you remember which ones go where.
