My phone was bought from US, but I use it in Turkey. Although, Apple has opened their first store in Istanbul, they rejected the give repair support to US devices, because there are lots of them. I cursed to the Apple, and decided to change my battery on my own. I knew about the ifixit before, especially because of the amazing tear downs, but I've never shopped before.
My order has arrived in 6 business days, which is a minus, because Fedex managed to bring the package from US to Turkey in 36 hours, but their local branch in Istanbul basically screwed up. It took whole 4 business days to deliver my order from airport to my home, 15 miles distance only.
Repair was harder than I thought. Front display panel didn't come off, I had to take extra muscle help from a partner, who has holded the display in position about 70 degrees during the whole repair. I skipped the disassembly of display panel, because many users had problems with delicate ribbon cables. They are too sensitive. Instead I had someone to hold the display up, so I could reach the battery. I also added an extra step, I softened the glue under battery by heating up back panel with a hair dryer. Now everything is perfect, I have an healthy battery. It is not like the original one came with phone though, I think ifixit batteries are not original, but I got firmly 24 hours of normal usage, which is way better than the old one.
People should buy the iSlack opener tool, because one suction cup may not be enough with one person's muscle power. If your phone is in mint condition, opening is really easy, but if you dropped your phone couple times, your frame may be deformed so you need more power to open the front panel. Also you don't need to buy project mat, it is simple plastic and it doesn't worth its price, but I do recommend the magnetic mat which can be really helpful, screws in phone are too tiny. Try do the repair on a table, and cover the floor with a white bed sheet, so you get contrast to find dropped ones. You will thank me.
