Mijn probleem

Under light use, the battery in my iPhone 5 would last about 4-5 hours. The repair guide for battery replacement on this site looked fairly easy.

Mijn oplossing

I went ahead and ordered 2 batteries to replace both my wife's and mine. I started on my wife's first(maybe not the smartest move). Opening the case was fairly difficult. I didn't want to pull on the suction cup too hard and have the phone come apart suddenly as described by many on this site. So I pulled just enough to get a guitar pic between the two halves. Then I slowly separated the phone with the plastic opening tool. Following directions, I then disconnected the 3 front panel cables and then the battery cable. I replaced the battery and reversed the order to put the phone back together. I turned it on and had a white line running from the top to the bottom of the screen just right of center. I guess I didn't connect one of the 3 front panel connectors just right. I took it apart and reconnected the 3 cables. Put it back together and turned it on only to have the screen not work at all. Back to the drawing board. I pulled it apart for a third time and left it apart. I walked away from it for a while. I came back and reassembled it for a third time and bingo, it worked just fine! What luck. When doing my iphone, I decided not to disconnect the 3 front panel connectors. The repair went much smoother and without any problems at all.

Mijn advies

Disconnecting the 3 front panel cables adds quite a bit more room for problems to arise. I realize that the cables are delicate but by leaving them connected I took out quite a bit of risk and saved time also. I reccommend skipping that step.
