Mijn probleem

My 12-yr old granddaughter received a new touch screen for her broken IPOD Gen 4 for Christmas. As quick as a flash and with a twinkle in her eye she bounced across the room and handed it to me. When I got home I checked out internet videos detailing the repair. Almost everyone insisted that the plastic pry bars that came with the kit would not be sufficient. So I ordered the 4-piece set from IFixIt.

Mijn oplossing

The spudger worked exactly as hoped. After initial heating with heat gun and separation with the knif blade of my leatherman, the sudger spade helped pry open the unit and scrape the broken shards out of the base. The spatula end was exactly what was needed to separate the digitizer from the wifi and the speaker. I can't imagine that I would have been able to seat the screen cable terminal without the spatula to provide a firm backing for a blind press and fit task. The whole screen replacement took about 45 minutes.

Mijn advies

I used the standard knife blade on my leatherman to start the separation of the touch screen from the case beginning at the bottom where the home key. From there on out it was spudger work.
