    • Prepare an iOpener and lay it over the lower edge of the digitizer to loosen the adhesive holding the home button gasket in place.

    • Wait about two minutes before moving on to ensure the adhesive has adequate time to soften.

    • Flip the digitizer panel over and gently push the home button up out of its slot in the front panel.

    • Push slowly and apply just enough pressure to slowly separate the gasket from the glass—if you push too hard the gasket will rip.

Why do you skip the part about moving the old home button to the new digitizer?

aturnaround - Antwoord

Kind of an important step. Is it easy?

Eric Thomas -

Agreed. Regluing the home button to the new digitizer is tedious.

I'm pretty sure the digitizer and the LCD are glued together with OCA on the 3rd generation iPad mini... separating/replacing them requires the equipment that is used for iPhones. You can't use LOCA glue in place of OCA because apple didn't think it was a good idea to seal the backlight to the LCD. The iPad mini and the iPad air 2nd Gen are repaired the same way, which is different than the previous versions of ipads. Please correct me if I'm wrong

You are incorrect. They are indeed separate.
