iMac Intel 20" EMC 2133 and 2210 Audio Board Replacement

Restore sound to your iMac by replacing the audio board.

Stap 1 Audio Board  ¶ 

Disconnect the left speaker cable connector from the audio board by pulling it straight away from its socket.

  • Disconnect the left speaker cable connector from the audio board by pulling it straight away from its socket.

  • Pull the connector parallel to the face of the audio board.

Stap 2  ¶ 

Move the antenna cables away from the audio board. Move the antenna cables away from the audio board.

  • Move the antenna cables away from the audio board.

Stap 3  ¶ 

Disconnect the microphone cable connector from the audio board by pulling it straight up from its socket.

  • Disconnect the microphone cable connector from the audio board by pulling it straight up from its socket.

Stap 4  ¶ 

Using the tip of a spudger, flip up the audio to logic board ribbon cable retaining flap (toward the bottom of your iMac). Pull the audio to logic board ribbon cable straight out of its socket.

  • Using the tip of a spudger, flip up the audio to logic board ribbon cable retaining flap (toward the bottom of your iMac).

  • Pull the audio to logic board ribbon cable straight out of its socket.

Stap 5  ¶ 

There may be a piece of foil tape connecting the audio ports to the lower case. Refer to this step for removal instructions.

  • Remove the four 5.4 mm T6 Torx screws securing the audio board to the logic board.

  • After you remove these four screws, the audio board is free from all connections and may fall.

Stap 6  ¶ 

Carefully lift the audio board out of your iMac.
