You'll know when to change it when the blade looks dull or bent, and dents or gouges appear.

Place the lawnmower on its side.
Drain the gas, and make sure the lawnmower is tilted so the oil dip stick is down.
Oil can't seep into the air filter if the oil dip stick is down. Draining the gas tank is important to prevent gas from being spilled.

Remove the sparkplug wire from the sparkplug.

Use a sturdy object, such as a brick or piece of wood, to keep the blade stable.
If using a brick or similar object, place it on the right side of the blade because we'll be turning the socket wrench to the left.
