Tesla Model S 12V Port - Fuse Replacement

  1. Tesla Model S 12V Port - Fuse Replacement, Open the Frunk: stap 1, afbeelding 1 van 1
    • Start by opening the frunk using either the touchscreen controls or key fob.

    • Open the trunk by pressing Controls.

    • Press the Front Trunk (or frunk) button.

  2. Tesla Model S 12V Port - Fuse Replacement, Remove the Access Cover: stap 2, afbeelding 1 van 1
    • Remove the access cover just in front of the windscreen, it has a hole in it for WS washer fluid reservoir. Four hidden plastic barbs can be unclipped by pulling forward and upwards from WS. Then the cover can then be removed.

  3. Tesla Model S 12V Port - Fuse Replacement, Locate the Right Fusebox: stap 3, afbeelding 1 van 1
    • In this case, we are looking for the right most black box. (Right when viewed from the drivers seat, but left when looking at the fuse boxes from the front of the car.)

    • Pop out one the tabs and lift off the cover.

  4. Tesla Model S 12V Port - Fuse Replacement, Find the Broken Fuse: stap 4, afbeelding 1 van 1
    • See the fuse diagram in the included photo for the exact placement. Starting from the bottom right hand corner, it is the second fuse to the left.

    • Fuse Number F35

    • Make sure to replace the original fuse with a high quality 15A fuse from your local auto supply store or online vendor.

    • Replace the black fuse box cover by snapping it into place.

    • Then slide in the access panel and tap the corners to lock the tabs back in place.

    • At this point close the frunk and go back inside the car to check and make sure everything is working like normal.

    • Pat yourself on the back (optional but highly recommended)

I own a Tesla Model S 90D and the fuse box shown here is different than the one I have in the Frunk.

Newer Teslas do not have the accessory port fuse in this box. Instead, the fuse is in a box located just inside the right side footwell, up against the outside of the car. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgaXStUt... is the best documentation I have; next time I will photograph steps and create a guide here.

You may want to be more specific with the vehicle description as this doesn't apply to later Model S. My 2016 facelift is completely different. There's another fuse block on the passenger side kick panel that house the the majority of the interior 12v leads.
