    • Pop open the SIM card tray by inserting a SIM card removal tool into a small hole on the upper-left side of the phone.

    • Carefully remove the SIM card from its tray.

Remove the SIM card tray from the phone. Don't need to remove the actual card from the tray, just be careful you don't lose it…

    • Loosen the binding glue within the phone using a hairdryer or an iOpener.

    • If you choose to use a hairdryer, hold the dryer at least eight inches from the phone and apply heat for two minutes in a circular motion around the edges of the phone.

    • Insert a Jimmy under one of the heated corners of the phone to lift it slightly.

    • Insert a plastic card underneath the slightly lifted lip on the back cover and gently glide the card under the lifted phone casing.

    • There will be a small amount of tension, but this is normal as the card is removing the adhesive within the phone.

    • Remove the back cover from the phone.

    • Use high concentration (>90%) isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth to remove all adhesive residue from the back cover and the frame.

Do you need to replace the glue when reassembling?

It was sufficient for me to re-heat the adhesive from the phone.

Also, I used a pair of tweezers to lift the initial corner, which was a breeze compared to the Jimmy’s as suggested by the guide.

The gaps were very tight. After warming the adhesive, it was helpful to have a helper use a suction cup to tug on the back to enlarge the gap for the jimmy.

Theres a big patch of glue on the right side of the camera. Be careful with this part, cuz ure proabably under the curved side trying to get inbetween and in my case this shattered the coating of the backside of my phone. It still works, but it has a spider skin on the back now.

    • Remove the single 3mm Phillips #00 screw from the battery.

    • Using tweezers, carefully remove the small metal bracket covering the battery connector.

  7. OnePlus 6T Battery Replacement: stap 7, afbeelding 1 van 1
    • Using a halberd spudger, gently lift and disconnect the battery connector from the phone.

    • Do not use a metal tool for this step as it may puncture the battery and cause it to leak toxic liquid.

The given picture is of a one plus 6T. The steps for a one plus 7 are slightly different . Need to get a lot more screws out to access that connector!!

    • Grab the red tab on the right hand side and pull until the battery dislodges.

    • It will have some tension as there is tape holding the battery in place. Only remove the battery. Make sure to leave the tape as it will ensure the next battery stays in place.

    • Do not reuse the battery after it has been removed, as doing so is a potential safety hazard. Replace it with a new battery.

the battery requires the strength of a god to pull out. any tips for getting it out for normal people?

Does the adhesive for the back cover need to be replaced? Should I heat the phone and back glass for re-assembly?

Mark Bugajski - Antwoord

Good questions. I think “reassembly is the reverse of these instructions" is a bit simplified. I think the heat is only for removal, but perhaps it would cause the adhesive to rebond after reassembly? Can an ifixit tech comment?

Justin Allen -

Just wondering if anyone can clarify the reattachment of the rear panel, as far as whether it is recommended, or necessary, to heat it again, or get a new adhesive gasket. Thanks.

Scott Sparling -

Good question! You should replace the back cover adhesive with either a custom-cut adhesive or double-sided tape such as Tesa tape. You can choose to reheat and reuse the existing adhesive, but there may be a chance that the back cover will fall off. If you’re reusing adhesive, be sure to remove any uneven adhesive chunks.

Arthur Shi -

What width Tesa tape would work for the replacement of the back cover?

Jamie Wright - Antwoord

Just look for phone repair adhesive tape - I believe it is 2mm

Personnally, I did warm it again and it looks to fit. I did use the heating bed (90°) of my 3D printer to heat it before and after mounting. But without puting the camera on the bed.

The first step should be expanded upon. Using just a jimmy tool dings up the casing. Heat up the bottom with a hairdryer or a heat gun and use a suction cup tool and pull on the backing enough to create a gap big enough to slip a pick into (having a second person slip the pick in makes this easy) and get the process started. Using the iOpener the rest of the way to heat up each edge and pull it away with the suction cup a bit in combination with a picker tool leaves the adhesive intact enough to re-heat and create a decent and even seal when putting the rear plate back on. This battery change out is about as easy as it gets aside from getting started.

What is the thickness of the tesa tape which is required for the battery and back cover?

davidvelladingli - Antwoord

Does anyone have any issues with DASH charging after replacing the battery? My phone won't charge faster than ~8W (~2000mAh, ~4V). I've swapped cables and charging bricks, so that doesn't seem to be the issue.

Wojtek - Antwoord

Looking at doing this, did you ever figure out that issue?

I think I'm facing some software problem with wifi connection and on regular fluctuations of wifi, phone is repeatedly getting restarted. I have tested to format whole phone but it didn't work. I tried cleaning chache in boot mode multiple time it still appears. Tweeked with wifi network settings aswell, no result the problem still survives.. provide me some solution please.. I love this phone and don't want to leave it at any cost.
