Nikon D3200 Motherboard Replacement

Wat je nodig hebt

  1. Nikon D3200 Motherboard Replacement, Battery: stap 1, afbeelding 1 van 1
    • Locate the battery compartment on the bottom of the camera directly below the mode dial.

  2. Nikon D3200 Motherboard Replacement: stap 2, afbeelding 1 van 1
    • Find the marked arrow on the battery compartment door and firmly push following the arrow's direction to release the latch.

I don't think its wise to install a battery when your going to be removing the control board as this could cause a short circuit and the board and or the battery could burn up, you should remove the battery prior to working on the internal parts of the camra

I quite agree, I once had the misfortune to get a severe electric shock from the gubbins of a digital camera.

It is best too remove battery and wait for capacitors to discharge.

on this camera you also have to take the cover off the +- button by prying up under it as its glued on and there is a 4 th screw under that which has to also come off before the back can be removed

Do you have to discharge the flash capacitor to perform this swap?

also, where is the DC board in relation to the motherboard?

I have been given a broken 3200 that will not power up, and the flash card slot is broken, so a motherboard swap is in order anyway. I ordered a motherboard (on a slow boat from china), but am wondering about the DC board.

    orangestrada - Antwoord

The DC board should be built into the mother board on the D3200 unless yours is a different or older model. after you remove the mother board it would be located under that on a smaller green circuit board with a fairly large capacitor on it you can discharge the capacitor by touching across the two contacts with a screwdriver or wire.

Conclusie

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order. note, there are two metal interference protectors over the board that have to be un soldered as well as the 4 wires shown to the left top of the board that have to be un soldered and re soldered to the new board

Some D3200s must be built differently than others.

To get the back off of my D3200, there are two more screws that had to come out, not mentioned in this guide, and both well-hidden.

One is in the viewfinder focus adjustment knob,.  The sticker has to be pried off of this knob, exposing that screw.  The other is under the rubber trim piece between the “Command Dial” and the “Multi-Selector”.

The pictures here show the viewfinder focus adjustment knob still in place with the back removed.  On mine, it's part of the back, and the back doesn't come off without that knob coming off with it.

This guide doesn't say what to do about the four wires coming off the motherboard, near the upper left corner.  There's no connector, and if one were going to remove and replace the motherboard, I can see no option other than to desolder and resolder them, but that would involve equipment and skills that I don't think this guide intends to assume that the reader has.

Hi

Got the motherboard off and after lots of screws and a bit of a bend on the subframe changed filter on sensor to 720 IF.put it back together and it works!!!!

However the four wires i snipped intending to solder a small length on them to join but did not bother as was fairly sure they went to speaker and mic both are very poor quality and not needed for my intended use (IR).

after you snip the wires on the motherboard and turn it over there is a large ribbon connector to flip open then you can remove the board.

I know this is and old post, but would you possibly know if the D3300 worked the same? Would I be able to replace the motherboard on that one by using this guide? My SD card slot broke, and I needed to replace it.

Also, my D3200 has some metal shielding on and around the motherboard, not shown on this guide.

Bob Blaylock - Antwoord

I think they are all much the same (3200) Same problem here plus I am not sure how you remove the the ribbon under the motherboard, you certainly cannot remove the ribbon without removing the four wires.

time for the soldering iron me thinks!!!!!

Have any of you gents here ever had any problem with freely rotating selector switches on the D3200? Can't find any info online so I am considering opening it up.

Hi guys, I have a question. I have a d3300 and I need to replace the mother board or maybe even the lcd. Do you know where I can order the parts ? Of course if it is too expensive then I won't bother with it. Just want to know. Thanks.

Did you get the motherboard at the end? may I ask where? I’m trying to find it too. Thanks in advance :D

Hi, actually I'm new to this discussion, I'm one of d3200 user, camera back display does not work, when I check with eyepiece message appears "err", camera shutter sound works but sometimes seems it get stuck, eyepiec I can see focal length info, and few more information. Pictures doesn't save in memory card too. Does this relating to camera motherboard issue??? Or any other issue.

JUST finished replacing the motherboard in my D3200, thanks to this tutorial!!! I agree there were a couple points that need to be addressed, like the lack of mention of the screw under the thumb-pad on the back, as well as the screw under the dial on the upper right of the eyepiece. I chose to do the soldering, which wasnt too terribly bad. After reassembly, SELF HIGH FIVE!!! Now I can give my father-in-law his camera back WITHOUT a busted usb port!!! :) And he is none the wiser to my breaking it in the first place. Lol. Plus I now have my D5600 my wonderful wife just bought me, to enjoy!!!

Did you have the guide for the D3400?

Joel - Antwoord

No guide for the D3200 or D3400 and not sure how the D3400 is assembled I used this tutorial for the D3200 to disassemble my D3200 and as I ran into problems not mentioned here I added them to the tutorial as I found them.

Is the ribbon connector on the back of the mother board a flip ZIF. Its not opening with the normal amount required. Im wondering if there is a locking tab.

Hello, how do i get read of the “error press shutter re lease”

Anthony Kayondo - Antwoord

Hi, its just something in the new board when that comes up you  have to turn it off and on and if that don't work  switch it to manual and face it out a window into the light it  seems the board takes a while to get “set in” I had the same problem and it lasted about a week and now it works fine.

What are the possibilities of repairing the motherboard without replacing?
