Wat je nodig hebt

  1. , Onderste behuizing: stap 1, afbeelding 1 van 1

    • Verwijder de volgende P5-pentalobe schroeven die de onderste behuizing aan de MacBook Pro bevestigen:

    • Acht 3.0 mm lange schroeven

    • Twee 2.3 mm lange schroeven

    • Til de onderste behuizing, vanaf de kant waar de scharnieren van het scherm zich bevinden, omhoog en van de MacBook Pro af.

    • Leg de onderste behuizing aan de kant.

    • Peuter het waarschuwingslabel dat over de batterijaansluiting heen geplakt zit los.

    • Gebruik het platte einde van een spudger om de batterijaansluiting in een rechte beweging uit het contact op het logic board omhoog te duwen.

    • Buig de batterijkabels naar achteren en uit de weg, zodat je zeker weet dat de batterijaansluiting geen contact maakt met het logic board tijdens de reparatie.

  5. , AirPort-/Camerakabel: stap 5, afbeelding 1 van 1

    • Gebruik een spudger of een pincet om de drie AirPort-antennekabels in een rechte beweging uit hun contacten op het AirPort-bord omhoog te duwen.

    • De punten van de kabelaansluitingen zijn erg fragiel. Wees dus voorzichtig en zorg dat je enkel de aansluiting en niet het contact of de kabel omhoog trekt.

    • Om de aansluiting weer aan te sluiten, positioneer je de aansluiting voorzichtig over het contact en druk je deze stevig naar beneden met het platte einde van je spudger.

    • Gebruik de punt van een spudger om de kabelaansluiting van de camera in de richting van de ventilator en uit het contact op het logic board te duwen.

    • De stekker op de foto bevat zes aansluitingen, maar sommige modellen hebben twaalf aansluitingen. Het proces voor het verwijderen van de stekker is voor beide stekkers hetzelfde.

    • Als de stekker van de camerakabel niet gemakkelijk uit het contact op het logic board los komt, vouw je de rubberen afdekking over de ventilator zodat je beter bij de kabel kunt. Vervolgens trek je rustig aan de kabel terwijl je een spudger gebruikt om de stekker uit het contact te duwen.

    • Zorg dat je parallel aan het bord duwt, eerst aan de ene kant en dan aan de andere kant, zodat je de aansluiting als het ware uit het contact "laat lopen". Duw absoluut niet omhoog, aangezien je dan het contact zult beschadigen.

    • Steek het platte einde van een spudger onder de rubberen cover van het koellichaam die op de rechter ventilator ligt.

    • Schuif je spudger onder de lange zijde van de cover en scheid deze van de lijm die het aan de laptop bevestigt.

    • Til de cover op en kantel deze naar achteren zodat je de kabels eronder kunt bereiken.

    • Gebruik je vingers om de AirPort-/Camerakabels van de ventilator omhoog te trekken.

    • De kabels zitten aan de ventilator vastgemaakt dus peuter deze voorzichtig los om te voorkomen dat je ze zomaar kapot trekt.

    • Trek de kabels tot slot voorzichtig uit de plastic kabelgoot in de laptop.

    • Use the flat end of a spudger to pry off the two rubber hinge covers, one from each end of the device.

    • Remove the two 3.1 mm T5 Torx screws securing the aluminum hinge covers to the upper case.

    • Remove the two aluminum hinge brackets from the MacBook Pro.

    • Use the tip of a spudger to pry the display data cable lock and rotate it toward the DC-In side of the computer.

    • Pull the display data cable straight out of its socket on the logic board.

    • Do not lift up on the display data cable, as its socket is very fragile. Pull the cable parallel to the face of the logic board.

    • Remove four out of the six 5.3 mm T8 Torx screws securing the display to the upper case.

    • We purposely have you leave one screw attaching the display to the upper case to aid in future steps.

    • When reassembling, make sure that the screws go through the two grounding loops on the webcam/airport cable.

    • Open the MacBook Pro approximately 110 degrees, and place it sideways on the table, as shown.

    • While holding the display and upper case together with your left hand, remove the remaining T8 Torx screw from the lower (closer to the table) display bracket.

    • Be sure to hold the display and upper case together with your left hand. Failure to do so may cause the freed display/upper case to fall, potentially damaging each component.

    • While holding the display and upper case together with your left hand, remove the remaining T8 Torx screw from the upper display bracket.

    • Grip both halves of the device, one in each hand.

    • Gently push forward on the bottom half of the device to detach it from the display assembly.

    • Carefully set each component aside, making sure to set down the lower half keyboard-side down.

I found that this was a really easy project. even easier than replacing my iphone 5 screen. however the replacement screen I purchased from a third party did not have the wires for the webcam connected. they had been severed off. Also the antenna and connectors were not included either so I had to take them from the old broken screen. this was at first frustrating but then I thought about how often I use a webcam and quickly carried on with the project because I really don't need a webcam (and now the NSA can't see me hehe). also the plastic covering for the antenna which is talked about in the retina display teardown as easy to remove was in fact far more difficult for me to remove than anything. I ended up nearly breaking the plastic covering in half trying to remove it.

Overall, this was an easy and painless 2/10 difficulty to perform and had the cords for the webcam been present it would not have made it any more difficult. Piece of cake.

Hi there. I see you noted the antenna cover was difficult. But can you remember how things are connected on thre antenna? I've just got a machine, and someone has broken all the antenna connectors. The antenna doesn't cost much but all come with isight cables too. I'm hoping you can just disconnect and remove the isight cable that comes with the new antenna and just connect the one that is already there.
