  5. Lift the ear of the fan nearest the RAM up off the standoff secured to the outer case.
    • Lift the ear of the fan nearest the RAM up off the standoff secured to the outer case.

    • Removing the standoff screw is not necessary to remove the fan. You need only raise the fan enough to lift it off the standoff screw.

  6. Lift the fan out of the mini for enough clearance to access its connector. Grab all the wires at once and gently pull straight up to disconnect the fan from the logic board. Do not pry at the socket, or you may rip it from the logic board.

one of the screws will be "stuck" inside the mount due to having two fixed washers on either side. this screw can be taken apart by holding the bottom piece with pliers and using your torx driver on the top. you will need to do this to replace the fan with a new one.

good luck

step 3 should have note to remove 3 ea. screws ... the screw on the left bottom on the picture is not shown ... it is obvious when you look at the fan you recieve ... connector came out very easy, just pull up (easily) ... took less than 15 minutes on my i7 server mini, mid 2011 model
