My notes say that when I changed the SSD I had to use a Torque #5 for the eleven screws on the back … and that I had to use the correct torque settings for them when I replaced them.
I have the screwdrivers … anyone know where I find those torque settings for the back-cover (11) screws?
found them!
torque specifications: 1.85 +/- 0.15 kgf*cm
citation: Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, 13 inch Display, Hardware Maintenance Manual
… conversion to “English” units … 1 lbf in == 1.15 kgf cm
so the above specification is equivalent to: 1.61 lbf in +/- 0.13 lbf in

Verwijder de batterij uit de computer.
This is exactly how you replace the battery. Would like to know how the author got the Yoga 2 Pro to recognize the battery as I’ve done the replacement per this write up and it went smooth, but the system doesn’t recognize the battery. Lenovo’s website is of no value and I can’t find an answer that works.
With my ifixit tool kit…the big black box, I can open, repair and close any pc, desktop or laptop. The fix went smooth, but nada on how to have the system recognize the new battery.

The cover does not come off “gently”- there are snaps all the way around that must be popped.
where do I buy a quality replacement battery?
I checked ebay and amazon, and there are a bunch of them. But I don’t know which one I should buy.
Thanks in advance.
Did you find a suitable replacement? I’m curious too - looks like prices are $60 or twice that. Worth paying more than bargain basement prices?

You can get a Lenovo replacement battery from Amazon. About US 46. Did it, replaced, but now machine says no battery installed! Have searched far and wide on the web, but haven’t found an answer. Lots of complaints that Lenovo and new battery don’t mix well. Still searching. BTW I bought the replacement per my comments above. It’s an exact match and they put black tap over the Lenovo name.
I cannot use my Phillips… these are Torx screws :(
I did a SSD replacement a while back … the eleven screws of the back cover need to have the correct torque applied! too much torque can make things not work correctly.
The “Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Hardware Maintenance Manual” specifies the torque, both for the battery (5) screws, and the back cover (11) screws, as 1.85 +/- 0.15 kgf cm.
This laptop has always been a disappointment.
Loads of booting up problems and then the battery performance was poor.
Now it looks like getting a replacement battery will be a problem
“Please ensure that the laptop is turned off before beginning.” - how do I know if the laptop is off? The screen is black and there’s a pinprick light on the ON/Off button.
I had no trouble getting a replacement battery … I used Amazon to search for the battery number (L12M4P21) and specs (7.4V 7400mAh 54Wh), cross referenced them to the Lenovo support website … then used Google to select a price/brand/speed trade study.
I did find that the eleven screws for the laptop back are Torque-05 … and the five holding the battery itself are Phillips #00.
AND … important … I used the correct torque for the screws (1.85 +/- 0.15 kgf cm ).
I think the most disappointing ‘feature’ of this device has been the fact that the bluetooth capability has never functioned correctly. Closely followed by Windows 10 does not support all of the hardware.
Can I run my yoga 530 without the battery if I follow these steps?
I only ever use it at home and it gets warm so I'm worried about damaging the battery long term.
Also, I use it for gaming but the adapter that came with it is the 65w one. If it can be run without the battery is it better for performance to buy a 90w adapter and run it from that?
is this item compatible with Lenovo Yoga 2? it says pro but on mine it does not say pro
Eleven #5 Torque screws…..
