HP Assistant has a battery checker and calibration program. You need to plug the ac power to the laptop and charge it to 100% then run the battery checker again to verify. The battery manufacture recommends draining the pattern to 3% then recharge it to extend the life of the battery. Some makers charge to 50% while others are fully charged. It was very easy to replace. Only difficult was prying open the back case. The pick wasn’t working but a thin tiny flat tip did. Just be very care and take your time.

I did the replacement but there is an error. Two of the screw holes are for the chassis cover.

I replace the battery and HP Support Assistant still said it was bad and to replace it.

Turns out the battery system needs a hard reset.

I found the solution. With the laptop off and plugged in, hold the power button until the LED indicator light goes out then release.

The laptop will start charging when Windows loads up. The HP assistant was happy indicating a healthy battery.
