Gaems g155 LCD Screen Disassembly

    • While the Gaems g155 takes gaming on the go, unfortunately so can the screen. Thankfully Gaems made it relatively easy to replace the screen.

    • The first step is to remove the front sticker/plastic cover. You need a spudger of some sort to take the clear cover sticker and bottom sticker off.

    • Note: when you take both of the stickers off, you will most likely need to buy new stickers for the front. The clear one will no longer stick well, but the bottom one will still stick, but will have tool damage wherever you took it off (as you can see on the bottom left).

    • Remove the four T10 screws.

    • Flip over the case and open it up.

  4. Gaems g155 LCD Screen Disassembly: stap 4, afbeelding 1 van 1
    • Remove the plastic cover, using opening tools, and then simply pull the rest off using your fingers.

  5. Gaems g155 LCD Screen Disassembly: stap 5, afbeelding 1 van 1
    • Remove all screws using your P#1 screwdriver. There are four large screws in the top and bottom, and the six smaller screws on the sides.

    • Honestly, the toughest part of the replacement are these three clips on each side. I found that prying the top two first makes it a little more easy.

    • After you get it unclipped, take out the screen assembly, and flip it over on its face.

    • Looking at the back, you can see the LCD cable, most likely you will have some hot glue on the back covering the cord.

    • Be extremely careful if you do have to peel off any glue, as too much force on the cable could break the connector.

    • After any glue is removed, simply unhook cable with a spudger. Be careful not to actually touch the connectors, as the oils on your fingers can potentially cause some problems down the road.

  7. Gaems g155 LCD Screen Disassembly: stap 7, afbeelding 1 van 2 Gaems g155 LCD Screen Disassembly: stap 7, afbeelding 2 van 2
    • Lastly, remove the eight T6 screws from the left and right sides.

    • There you have it, a fully disassembled Gaems g155 screen!

if you use a blow dryer or heat gun on the front sticker - get it good and toasty, it comes out easier and in one piece. Also - blow dryer for the screen bezel - not too hot, but enough to loosen up the glue thats holding it down.

Last of all - on my gaems system - the connection to the lcd was both hot glue and solder - I had to use a de-soldering wick to take solder off the sides of the holding bracket.

Thanks for the tutorial - i had no idea how to get started

Is there a part I can buy to replace my LCD for the GAEMS Vangard Series? I have a cracked screen I want to replace.

I'd like to see if I can put a 17" full 1080P HD or even the 19" one.. not sure if this case is the same size as their 19" model..but if it is.. their 19" model is a 720P display as well. I'd like to get an updated full HD display with better viewing angles.. any thoughts?

not a bad idea.. I just picked one of these up today for $20 that has a cracked screen. Wanting to use the case as a GCS for my R/c UAVs. It seems the monitor is no different than a standard 15.5" laptop LCD screen. I have a bunch laying around that I'm going to try and swap the cracked one out with. I have looked at the different cases and I will agree, I believe their cases are all the same dimensions with the exception of the mounting screws (19" screen would have mounting holes further apart than the 15.5") but with a little modification, im sure you could mount one in just fine. I also plan on creating a protective layer between the LCD and other hardware so something like this doesnt happen again when transporting it! I'll let you all know when its done

And if I accidentally break the connectors, is there somewhere I can buy a replacement for that? There was much more glue than I thought and the whole thing is broken now. (I'm having a rough day, if you hadn't guessed).
