Stap 1 Sensor

• Use a step ladder to reach and unplug the garage door opener power cord.

• Remove the wingnut from the safety sensor bracket.
• Turn counter-clockwise until the wingnut is completely removed.

• Pull the sensor from the bracket.
• Be careful not to lose the screw that attaches the sensor to the bracket.

• Use the wire stripper or pliers to cut the wires for the sensor about an inch from the safety sensor.
• This step removes the old sensor.

• Separate the ends of the wires
• Use the wire stripper to strip the ends of the wires for the new sensor.
• This step prepares the new sensor to be connected to the wiring for the garage door opener.

• Separate the ends of the wires and use the wire stripper to strip the ends of the wires going into the wall.
• This step prepares the garage door opener wiring to be connected to the new sensor.

• Match the wires from the wall and from the new sensor and connect them with the crimp by inserting two like-kind wires in one crimp with one wire going into each side.
• The black striped goes with the black striped wire.

• Use the pair of pliers to press down on the round section of the crimp to seal the connection.
• Repeat for the other wire.

• With the wiring connected, slide the new sensor into the bracket.

• Attach the wingnut and tighten the new sensor to the bracket.

• Repeat the process for the other sensor on the other side of the garage door.

• Use a step ladder to reach and plug in the power cord for the garage door sensor.

• Gently wiggle the sensors to align them.
• When the sensors are aligned, the sensor with the green safety light glows steadily.

Stap 14
• Place a box between the sensors and press the garage door button to close the garage door. The garage door should return to its starting point and the garage door light flash. This result means that the new sensors are working properly.
