Inleiding

Downgrading your iPod Touch is a somewhat involved process, but it can be useful. For example, if you upgrade it to a version of iOS that a jailbreak doesn't exist for, you can downgrade iOS to a version with a jailbreak. Although it is very difficult to brick your iPod, it is possible.

The effectiveness on this guide will vary. In some cases, you may not be able to downgrade the firmware on your iPod Touch.

The first thing you'll need to do is create a new folder on your Desktop. Name it "downgrade".

    • iTunes (If you don't already have it.)

    • TinyUmbrella (the links are on the right side of the page.)

Is there any inconvenience with the tiny umbrella and windows 10?

Kisame - Antwoord

I have no intentions of using Windows 10 unless my hand is forced. I don't know.

First, open up TinyUmbrella. Next, you'll need to go to Advanced and enable "Save ALL Available SHSH." Wait for your iPod to show up under "Connected Devices," then click on it.

  • Hold down the home button for ten seconds. Don't release it yet!

  • Release the power button, but don't release the home button for another fifteen seconds!

  • After you've held the home button for fifteen seconds, you should be in DFU mode. Your screen will be black.

  • At this point, iTunes will open if you did it correctly. It will tell you that it has detected an iPod in "Recovery Mode."

The next step requires some research. You'll need to look at the SHSH's that TinyUmbrella saved. These are the firmwares that you can downgrade to.

  • Your primary reason for downgrading is primarily to jailbreak. If so, you'll need to research if you are able to jailbreak a particular firmware. Try the highest saved SHSH and then work your way down.

  • When you find a firmware that you can jailbreak, you'll need to download it. Many firmwares can easily be downloaded from here.

  • Save it in the "downgrade" folder.

First off, open TinyUmbrella. Start the TSS Server. Next, open iTunes. If it detects an iPod in Recovery Mode, you got DFU mode right. This step varies depending on your platform. Mac users, hold down Opt; Windows, Shift, if you please. Now click the button that says "Restore iPod..."

  • If you did it right, you'll get a file chooser. Select the IPSW that you'll be restoring from. THIS IS THE POINT OF NO RETURN. You can either go through with it and click "Open," or you can click "Cancel."
