Troubleshooting
Refer to the following troubleshooting guide if the lawn mower does not operate correctly:
1. The mower does not work when the switch lever is activated.
- Solution: Check that the safety key is inserted and fully seated.
2. The motor stops while cutting the grass.
- Solution: Release the switch lever to turn off the mower. Remove the safety key, flip the unit, and check that the blade rotates freely. Has the battery been fully charged? Plug in the charger and wait until the green light comes on.
3. The mower works, but the cutting performance is unsatisfactory or does not cut the grass completely.
- Solution: Release the switch lever to turn off the mower. Remove the safety key. Flip the unit and check that the blade rotates freely. Raise the wheel cutting height to the highest position and turn on the mower. Has the battery been fully charged? Plug in the charger and wait until the green light comes on. The circuit breaker may have tripped. It will restore automatically. The restoration time may be 1 minute. Decrease or increase the cutting height.
4. The mower is too hard to push.
- Solution: Has the battery been fully charged? Plug in the charger and wait until the green light comes on. Release the switch lever to turn off the mower. Remove the safety key. Flip the mower and check that the blade is sharp and there are no obstructions on the platform or in the discharge chute. The wheel height may be set too low for the condition of the grass. Raise the cutting height.
5. The mower produces vibrations and noises in an unusual way.
- Solution: Raise the cutting height to reduce the friction of the platform against the grass. Check that each wheel rotates freely. Release the switch lever to turn off the mower. Remove the safety key. Flip the mower on one side and check the blade to make sure it is not curved or damaged. If the blade is damaged, replace it with a Black & Decker replacement blade. If the underside is damaged, send the mower to an authorized Black & Decker service center. If there is no visible damage to the blade and the mower still vibrates: Release the switch lever to turn off the unit, remove the safety key, and then the blade. Rotate the blade 180° and re-adjust it. If the mower still vibrates, send it to an authorized Black & Decker service center.
