Submerge Logic Board in Isopropyl Alcohol?

Is it alright to submerge the Iphone 4 logic board in alcohol and then brush it off? Or would it be better to apply it by putting alcohol in a spray bottle and spraying it on?

Youtube video here:

Seems like it works and I know after drying off and giving it the proper time to dry, high percentage alcohol (97%+) leaves no residue, but I'm still skeptical of submerging the entire board.

I planned on taking apart the phone, submerging the logic board in isopropyl alcohol, brushing it, remove/pad off with a cloth. Then spray it with compressed air to get more alcohol out from the tight spaces, then leaving it in a container with a bunch of silica gel packets for a day or two to dry out completely. I'd also clean the connectors on the other components of the phone. Any suggestions?

Dylan Bingle, check this guide. Even so it was written for a 3G, all the points still pertain to your phone as well. Hope this helps, good luck.

So I went through and cleaned the motherboard using this process and turned the phone on. Everything seemed to work - wifi, signal, touchscreen, vibrate, sound, etc except for the dock connector. It won't charge or be recognized in itunes. I ordered a replacement dock connector and hopefully that fixes the issue.

Thank you for accepting my answer. Replacing the dock connector sounds like a reasonable thing to do. Best of luck to you.

I soak all water damaged boards in alcohol. The alcohol will displace any water in any tiny hidden areas. It will dry very quickly. After cleaning dry with a heat gun on low or a blow dryer. Even distiller water is ok to submerge the board in. It is the electricity flowing through it that causes the damage to the board. After saltwater submersion the first thing to do is to rinse in distilled water to get the saltwater out. Definitely sounds like a new dock connector is needed. Try swabbing the dock connector out with a toothbrush and alcohol I have fixed many phones with just that. It fixes no charging issues as well sometimes.
