Hi @angelasmit61223

What is the year and drive type i.e. FWD or AWD of the vehicle?

Have you checked if the hydraulic fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir in the engine bay is at the correct level?

The antilock brake system may be considered the electronic heart of a two part brake system; the basis hydraulic system (when maintained as needed) and the abs electronics rarely needing service as long as external wiring and wheel sensors are intact. The red brake light indicates; parking brake applied or brake fluid at low level. The abs/traction control/electronic stability control/vehicle dynamic control system is all electronics and performs its own self tests at every engine startup (indicators turn on for lamp test while modules perform power up self tests, turning off when tests pass). Error codes may not appear on generic readers. Better readers capable of decoding B, C, and U codes (generic readers decode P type, emissions errors). Please remember, abs/tc/esc/vdc can fail but will not prevent the basic hydraulic brakes from operating as they always have before enhanced braking (electronics) systems became an addition.
