When I was prying off the display in order to replace the battery, a green vertical line appeared on the screen. It has not gone away. Will a new display fix that, or is there a simpler option?

A green vertical line most likely means the display was flexed or bent a little too far at that area, so it basically is a broken screen. I have heard about ways to fix that, but I can't recommend any as I haven't tested any.

It looks like the iFixit screen is $50 USD, so if you want to replace it, that's always an option. I do not recommend cheap screens from Amazon, Temu, or AliExpress.
