Nintendo's upgraded version of the Nintendo 3DS. It features bigger screens, longer battery life, better pixel density, and a better design.

White spots on the Motherboard

I have a known issue with the face buttons on this system, and while I had the motherboard out to inspect it, I noticed it had a whole bunch of these white splotches in this one sector. Does anybody know what this controls and/or how completely shreked my system is?

Edit: added more photos of the motherboard

@anothertie26783 looks like corrosion/debris Clean your board with some high grade (90%+) isopropyl alcohol and see if that makes a difference. Let's see if our game console Guru @dan0 can help you out further.

@oldturkey03 This stuff is really hard and doesn't seem to want to come off? Is there some technique I should be trying beyond "Rub with q-tip and/or toothbrush until resolved?"

door

@anothertie26783 hm, interesting. Some calcified stuff..... I don't think that it is factory since it i only on that particular area and it looks like its mostly on the VIAs. Let's investigate first before trying to go to more abrasive ways to remove it.

Hi!

Looks like corrosion though.

Is it possible to upload more photo’s regarding this and also one regarding the whole board?

You do need isopropyl alcohol, and you can take like a toothbrush and rub it to get it off. But let’s check what it is first, thanks!

I added some more photos of the board as requested. If you need more let me know.

I also assume that it's definitely corrosion of some kind, but I've never seen corrosion this tough before. It refuses to go anywhere when I scrub it, and it's super hard.

@anothertie26783 try some citric acid. I know, I know, sounds wicked, but it's not. Not sure where you are located but you can get this in form of dishwasher detergent booster. For example, Walmart has it in a product called Lemi Shine. Dilute it with some water and apply to the spots with a cotton tip applicator and let it sit for a bit. Then try and see if you can clean it away. After that clean the board with some isopropyl alcohol.

@oldturkey03 I'll take a look for some. I recently moved countries, so it may take some shopping around

@anothertie26783 that's cool. Yes, any citric acid will do.

Yes I advise that too! It's definitely not from factory...
