Turn 17 "screen into external monitor?

My computer died a horrific death (cider was involved), and I've salvaged the hard drive, and the other removable stuff, but what I really want to do is pull the screen out and turn it into a VGA or DVI external monitor. It could then be a very low power, small footprint wall-mountable device.

Any ideas as to how to build a VGA or DVI adaptor for it?

This is NOT a software question. It's a hardware/wiring question.

No, that's software. I want to physically wire the display to a vga port.

Here's your hardware solution: http://www.instructables.com/id/Laptop-C...

Ooh, close, but the apple laptop screen has a weird "apple created" plug that goes into the motherboard for video. That plug needs to be converted into a VGA or DVI plug.

Try this...

Reuse the flat LCD panel to a vga monitor
