Repair guides and support for top and front loading Whirlpool brand washers.

Fills with water and stuck.

Model wtw4616fw1, it will fill and then sit on wash. Dagnostic code is F7E5 I think it is shifter error.

I manually engage the spin and agitate testing and sounds like motor engage and then stop. It will give it a push, spin the whole tub and then disengage. It also gave a car engine idle noise, very faint. intermittently the machine will do a full cycle and everything, but most time it won't.

Fills and drains, but I've noticed seems like it will fill it full regardless auto sensing is chosen, not sure if a bad water level sensor would have such symptom.

I've ordered a shifter actuator but I'd like to confirm if that's the problem.

Thanks!

Hi @basementbronze

An F7 E5 error code does indicate a shifter fault but it may be something else that is causing it to happen and not the shifter per se.

Here's the tech sheet for the washer.

Go to Tests #3 Drive system and #3a Drive system - shifter on p.13 of the guide and follow the steps to see if you can prove whether it is a shifter problem or a problem with the motor circuit etc.

If you find the problem and it is due to a faulty part and it is not the shifter, here's the parts list that is useful.

Locate the wanted part in the list and note the part number that is shown with it. Search online for the part number only to find suppliers that suit you best.

Search on YouTube for (insert wanted part number) replacement, and sometimes if you're lucky, you'll find videos showing how to replace the part.
