Have you tried using it to check what it sounds like and how it performs? After 20 years the lubrication may be a bit dry.
Here's the service manual for the mixer that will help.
On p.6→p.7 (p.8→p.9 of 29 pdf) it shows how to re-grease and reseal the gear box.
