1 3DS XL has no sound nor mic input
Hello ifixers, 3DS XL has no sound, neither with internal speakers nor headphones. Microphone also does not work. I restored system but the issue persists. For headphone jack I test a difference in continuity when a jack is plugged and not (I guess headphone port seems to "switch" all right). I cleaned volume slider and it seems to have an effect because I can see the volume icon symbol going up or down in music player when I slide it, but still no sound output whatsoever. What should I be doing next? thanks for any clue

Hi! So, only the sound failed? It's probably motherboard related :(. Is the 3DS XL modded by any chance?

I’m afraid that the sound IC failed. Do you have any soldering experience? If not, you could replace the motherboard for a new one, but this is more expensive. Let me know if you need guides!

@dan0 I came to the same conclusion. Texas Instrument AIC3010D seems to be a BGA chip. If I can find a balled new one I think I can manage it. Putting balls on it I've never done that and honestly it seems a PITA. Do you have a good source for such a ready to solder chip please?

Can't say for sure :(. I would buy a broken donor motherboard (with a different issue obviously). And get the IC from there. Maybe @oldturkey03 knows a place where to get those IC's from. Sorry!
