Nintendo's upgraded version of the Nintendo 3DS. It features bigger screens, longer battery life, better pixel density, and a better design.

Power button completely unresponsive, yet the charging light comes on?

My 3DS XL does not respond to the power button being pressed, yet everything else is in working condition, is this an easy fix? I took it to a small repair shop and they said it was unfixable, however I would like a few more opinions...any pointers?

Hi there!

So, the blue light does not comes up at all?

Maybe silly question, but you already tried a new battery, right?

If yes, then you need to check the motherboard. Check the fuses first. They are labeled with "F".

Here is the part, including a photo where the fuses are located on the motherboard: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/325680322...

Please let us know how it goes!

Hello!

Unfortunately, the blue light doesn't come up at all, even after switching the battery, and the charging light still comes on, so the motherboard/battery is still receiving power!

I would also like to mention that while the console was on, the power button didn't work at all, no sleep menu, nothing. I had to use the Luma menu to turn the console off, and now I can't get it working at all.

How would I know if anything is out of the ordinary, this is one of my first repairs and I'm not entirely sure how I can check the fuses as I don't exactly have access to high tech equipment...

Thanks for your help so far!

No problem at all! Checking the fuses can be done with a multimeter! Just do a continuity test (one probe on the left side and the other one at the right side), it should give a beep! If it does, the fuse is thing! Regarding Luma, @darthmango, knows more about this! Hopefully you will get it working again!

It couldn't be a fuse, could it? F1 would prevent charging, F2 wouldn't allow the console to be on at all. I'm guessing the button itself (the one on the mobo) is worn out.

This is also possible yes! Thanks for mentioning it. Please feel free to share some pictures with us @filenotfound

@darthmango I'll be sure to look into this when I get a chance to take the console apart, thanks for the suggestion!
