Microsoft's derde generatie Xbox game console, uitgegeven op 22 November 2013.

Xbox One E100 0000070C 8B05000F error code during update

As stated in the title, I get a E100 0000070C 8B05000F error code while in the applying stage of an update

The oddfwupd logs do not have any sort of errors in them, so I am frankly at a loss for what could be wrong with the system

Any help would be greatly appreciated, because as of now the console is effectively bricked unless I can fix this

E100 ODD errors only applies to subcode 703, 70C and 70D happens after it, could be corrupted firmware files on other places like wireless cards, the eMMC chip or the hard drive, but the specifics are unknown due to MS not publishing any documentation.

So how would I go about figuring out how to fix it, or is it just bricked?

I would try to replace the HDD first. Because this one is really easy to replace! If this didn't solved it, then I would try to replace the easy parts first. (wifi card) as this one is easy to replace as well.

Hi!

The E100 error most of the time points to a mismatched drive or a bad drive.

Did you recently worked on the drive? Did you had problems with the drive?

Best thing to do is to check the drive first and it’s PCB.

Please let us know how it goes!

The drive is not mismatched, though I'm not completely sure if it's gone bad

I very recently got this as a hand-me-down, and when I powered it on after cleaning it, it prompted me to update it and now it's stuck in the update loop, so I was not able to test if the drive completely worked

However, from a visual inspection of the drive, it doesn't seem to be damaged in any way, and it accepts a disk and spins up

If this helps at all. before I got it, it had not been turned on for at least a year, and at that point it did still work

Alright, also check the SATA cable from the drive to the motherboard. Could be loose or damaged. Replace that one first if you are not sure. Otherwise you can try a new hard drive and see if the Xbox does want to install any update.. That will be the next step!

@dan0 I've already tried replacing the odd sata cable, but I definitely will try a new hdd. I'm also going to try to replace the power cable for the drive, just to see if that helps as well.

Yeah, that is the only thing you can try now. First the power cable, if that didn't solved it, then replace the HDD and try again. I hope that the drive it's PCB is fine... This one is married with the motherboard.

The subcode starts with 70C, it’s not optical drive related.
