How can I disassemble the Comfort Lapdesk?

I've owned this Logitech Lapdesk for several months and basically it is a good thing. The design is great, it looks good ,it is comfortable and small and compact. It does everything I want except hold my MacBook! The computer is constantly sliding down the smooth incline surface. What were those engineers thinking? I am a cabinetmaker and would like to veneer the desk surface but I can not find the key for pulling the thing apart. I know this is a little beyond your usual range but is there anyone who can help with this problem?

Which model do you have? The N315 or N700?

For maintenance and cleaning the N700: The panels over the speakers on the left and right just clip off. There's no screws for them. You have to get your finger right in the joins the first time of removing, but once they are off you will then see 8 screws (4 each side) of the middle panel covering the fan. You won't see the screws until the speaker panels are removed. Undo the 8 middle panel screws and you can then remove that too. It's quite tough to pull the panel off but once all 8 screws are out, just get into the joins at the top and bottom and pull - it clips out. You then have access to the fan to clean it. I'm not sure if you can go further and take the fan out, I didn't go that far. It's easily cleaned without removing. Then obviously putting back together is just the reverse of the above. Really easy.

Working long hours on the laptop itself can lead to a lot of stress to the body. Product innovators are always looking to offer things that can reduce the level of stress caused by using electronic devices. That is why using a Lap Desk with Light can be very beneficial to you.

This baby is just to new for anyone to have done a teardown on yet. As a matter of fact the Logitech site only has it available as a pre-order item. Are you sure you have the N700?

I've double checked, it is the N700. Bought it last summer. I've tried to take it apart but I'm afraid to pull too hard, I can't find any way to disengage the locking pins or get at them.

Check the link I left and see if we are talking about the same thing.

I am midway through a disassemble of the N700 lapdesk. Basically you remove the two panels to the right and left (they come off quite easily). Under there you find four screws on either side which removes the middle section of the top panels (it is divided in 3), this unfolds the cooling fan which allows for light dusting. If you want to take off the lower part (where the two stoppers are) you just remove the 5 visible screws. It comes off fairly easily, but it is popped in place using some sort of holding mechanism. Just follow the two rails unfolded at the corners in order to remove it.

Do you mean the two panels on the front, the speakers? I do not see any screws anywhere. Could you explain where these attachments are please? I want to clean the fan as this seems to be a big problem of why these units fail. I want to do preventive maintenance on my N700. Thanks

I have the same need for tear-down instructions for the N700. They are still selling it as of December 2013, and there is no real information on repairing this item on the internet. Thanks for your assistance!
