Dropped iPod nano in soda?

While grabbing my ipod nano in the car, it slipped and landed in my cup of soda. It was only in the soda for 2 seconds. It was on when I pulled it out. It stopped playing after a 30 sec. If I clean the data port with rubbing alcahol, will it still work, or do i have to take it apart?

Chris, since your Nano did turn off, it does stand to reason that you WILL have to take it apart and clean it, if you want to keep it functioning. The Nano is a bear to work on due to its size. It is a bit difficult, but not impossible. Use this guide to remove your logic board. Clean it up using this method. After that replace the battery. You can get a battery from places like this. Hope this helps, good luck.

Well, a soda spill couples the damage of water damage with the hassle of having sugar and other sticky stuff smeared all around your device.

So, before waking it up, be sure the device is completely dry. You should have avoided turning it up right now, usually isn't the water or the soda that damages the device, but the fact that water rerouts electricity in places where it wasn't supposed to be.

Let the iPod dry thoughly: somewhere dry with rice or silica (the ones placed with devices or shoes) would help the process.

You may have to take it apart and clean it, possibly replace the battery.
