Pen won't stay inside its case

I recently repaired my lg stylo 6 screen and the pen when I put it into its area won't click in place. Any advice for how to fix this issue?

Have you double checked that the mechanism for the pen inside the phone isn't damaged?

I can't tell what the mechanism is or how to fix it. Is it a spring of some type? It likely is damaged.
