My Dsi XL turns on then off.

The lower screen flickers before turning off but the top one does not. Any ideas on what might be the problem?

William Johnson, if you are sure that your battery is charging and holding a charge you may want to check the LCD's and the cables, especially to the top screen. Those do have a tendency to break." If the top LCD ribbon cable is damaged or not connected properly the blue power light will turn on briefly and the bottom LCD screen will flash on very briefly when the power button is pressed. If the bottom thin LCD ribbon cable is damaged or not connected properly the blue power light will turn on briefly and the top LCD screen will flash on very briefly when the power button is pressed." In your case, since the bottom flashes, replace the top screen, check the cable and the hinges as well. Hope this helps, good luck.

i have a similar problem, except when my dsi xl powers on it stays on until it is closed and and then some time s powers off. also when you push the screen back it inverts the color. i just finished reading an ifixit forum about the Nintendo 3ds not powering on due to bad speaker ribbon cables, and wondered if it had the same problem.
