Disk does not exit the drive

Disk does not exit the drive

I have a Optical drive that works perfectly. Reads/Write data without problem. However, when I eject, I see the mechanism eject the disk however the disk seems to stuck before leaving the drive. After a few seconds, the disk goes back in and is read again.

I obviously don't want to go trough the whole disassemble process of the drive. Is there an easy way to see if there might be something blocking between the drive and the iMac body?

Has the machine been taken apart? Does the disk insert smoothly or is it scraping when inserted?

No, the machine was not taken apart except by me, that I just removed the cover to see. The disk insert smoothly and is "grabbed" by the drive.

You gave me a grin on this one. It has been taken apart. Try removing the frame and see if the disk will work. I suspect that it will. Then just replace the frame correctly. Did you bend the clips at the upper corners of the frame?

Thanks for the reply. I probably bended the clips when I took it apart the first time, because I am actually unable to put the frame back correctly. But the issue with the disk was there before (this is why I removed the frame at first). I will remove the frame and let you know if the disk eject correctly. i suspect it will too because I already tried to move the frame and it was still blocking..

Ok, forget all this. I took a close look and the disk get's stuck inside the drive, nothing to do with the frame. I am not sure what's causing the issue but definitely I would need to replace the drive. Thanks for your help mayer!!! :)
