I tried to replace the cracked glass of a S22 Ultra but unfortunately ripped the black film that the glass is glued to. What is that film exactly and is it possible to replace it without getting a whole new display?

it is the polariser, you have probably gone as far as you can go at this point, a professional refurbisher may be able to repair it but other than that you will need a new display
