Bernie, is the blower motor working, just not blowing any hot air? If it is, then it is not the resistor.

Once and awhile it blows but most time not

Here is my answer to a similar question at Why does my air conditioner/heater fan only work on High? a" that bad resistors can be caused by blower motors with a lot of mileage on them. They build up higher resistance and that extra draw can destroy resistor. replacing the resistor may solve the problem for the short time but may re-occur. If that should happen, you may need a new blower motor. To get to the resistor, open your glove box, squeeze in both sides and let it drop down. You should now see the resistor directly behind there. It is about 3" x 1.5" with a 5/16 screw on each end and two wiring connectors. (one big one small). There is also a thermal fuse that I would replace as well since you are already there and the price for it is minor. It is a thermal fuse that goes bad often. you can fairly easy replace that one with a thermal fuse from Radio Shack or DigiKey has it as well on http://parts.digikey.com/1/parts/726775-.... So you could replace that as well, but it needs to be soldered. for your resistor repair, there is a Video that will help you with it. the part is readily available at places like this Hope this helps,

Berni,

I found this one after a brief search, but with a little digging you may be able to find one for a little less money.

And, look at this short article on how to replace it.

Good luck

Frank

Sorry to take so long to get back. I now have a new blower and resistor unit and working properly. The problem now is no heat. My thermostat is steady and is not overheating the engine.

If you are sure that your thermostat is working properly, (check the water lines going to your heater core for heat) and your blower is new ( or at least replaced) check your valves to make sure that you have water flow through the heater core. If they are working properly, replace the heater core. Of course, make sure that you have proper coolant level as well.
