Why does my pc freeze whenever I boot up a game?

My Pc keeps on freezing when I boot up certain games or close games, an example would be when I close Fortnite, my pc will freeze and I have to restart it using a button on my case. It started when I tried to upgrade my ram but it messed up my pc and gave me a BSOD but I fixed it (i think). I was thinking all my problems started from that but I'm not sure. I also plan on upgrading my PC to see if it's also that.

  • CPU: Ryzen 3 3200g
  • GPU: 1660 Super
  • Motherboard: B450 bazooka max wifi
  • Ram: 8gb DDR4-3200
  • Power Supply: 500w 80+ bronze
  • Storage: 1tb + 500gb

Without more information I am going to assume this is a RAM issue. You have 8gb of RAM but you don't actually have 8gb because your OS (I am going to assume windows) you only have roughly 4gb (+or - 1gb) to play with. You may be skirting by on the 8gb but closing the game or doing literally anything else to increase your RAM usage will BSOD your system. Try giving at least 12 and seeing if that improves anything.

Also If your computer image is old I would suggest blowing it out and starting fresh. IE reimage your system. Don't factory restore it. This will generally just improve performance.

Give it more ram you are capping out on ram.

And if you haven't try reimaging your system as well sometimes starting fresh fixes most issues.
