Won't sleep when lid is closed

I recently replaced the LCD on my MacBook (thanks iFixIt!) but now it won't sleep when I close the lid. Research revealed that a magnet in the display assembly triggers the sleep when the thing it closed, and I remember finding a small silver magnet after I was done replacing the LCD (I wondered where that came from!). I'm sure the magnet fell out when I was placing the LCD.

Where is this sleep magnet supposed to be located on the MacBook Core 2 Duo and where can I get a replacement?

The magnet is used to activate a reed switch to turn sleep mode on/off.

The magnet is mounted inside the display bezel (sorry I forget which side and don't have this machine handy to check - although someone else can likely confirm)

BUT you can easily confirm which edge of the bezel the magnet is mounted in because the reed switch it operates is located inside the upper case, at a spot where the magnet in the lid would meet when the lid is closed

just power up your MacBook, keep the display lid open then take any magnet and run it along the top edges of the main case (e.g. left or right of the keyboard along the edge) until the computer goes to sleep - that's where the reed switch is. So the magnet belongs in the display bezel in the corresponding location

you will then need to dismantle the lid again to replace the magnet. I don't see the magnet listed for sale here at ifixit.com, but I have seen them at places like pbparts.com or weloveMacs.com

Can someone just tell me WHERE the magnet goes?

I see so many posts of people talking about it, I just need a picture, or something that tells me where to put the magnet back in.

Do you have a spare rare earth magnet handy? just slide it across the front top edge of the palm rest around the IR sensor until the system sleeps (lid open). Then once the system goes to sleep note the location and translate it to the lids position.
