My HP laptop won't power on

I tried to power it on about 3 months ago and nothing happened. It's still not powering on. When plugged in, it gives a charging light. I heard something rattling around in the fan area, but I don't know if it was the fan or something in the fan. I should also include that the battery was jammed around this time, but I gently removed it and put it in correctly.

Also I'm not sure that it's this exact model. All I know is that the back of the laptop is black with a shiny 'HP" in the top left.

What information is printed on the product info label on the bottom of the laptop if one is there, model number or product number perhaps?

@jayeff I'm sorry, but I can't access the laptop until February 25th. A friend has it. I'm just trying to figure out what the problem is before I open it

Depends how loud or heavy the rattle sounds or feels.

Loose fan, RTC battery (if it has one) floating about or a component broken off the board perhaps.

If the battery was jammed in, it may have popped out of position if the laptop was dropped for instance and there may be more damage internally.

Can you contact the owner and get them to check for the model or product number info? Knowing this at least you might get an idea of what's inside and how to open it etc
