Samsung 2016 tv has lines running down it after 15-20 mins

Model # UN60JS8000

So the problem i am having is around 15-20 minutes after turning on the tv and watching a show, there is lines running down and side to side on the tv. It also gets warm on the top of the tv. It seems as when it gets warm it has the lines running down it. When I turn it off and later turn it back on when its cool it has no issue at all. I was wondering if anyone had an idea of maybe it is a cheap wire that needs to be replacing. It’s from 2016 so I wouldn’t want to invest more than $25 dollars into it. I’ve already tried opening it and disconnecting all the wiring and cleaning it. If anyone has any ideas of what it could be please let me know as it would be greatly appreciated.

One thing important I would like to add is that I recently started playing switch games on it. For some reason it doesn’t really have a problem with it. After like 2 hours of gaming it has a maybe inch long black thing on it. It would eventually go away. This issue is on my fire stick and regular tv.

I'm either thinking T-Con board or main board, but heavily leaning towards the Main Board. I think the main CPU or similar is overheating. This can usually be fixed by reballing the chip, but I'm not sure how long that would last.

Do you have a heat gun?

I have a hair dryer. I mainly know pcs. On pcs when they get old you have to replace thermal paste. I don’t know if TVs even have that. A think I would like to add is that when I connect my Nintendo switch to it, no problem. But the resolution is 1080p max. On the fire stick and regular tv it is 4k. So maybe the tv can handle 1080p and gets too hot on 4k. Also the top of the tv feels warm to the touch. It gets a small amount warm not much when displaying the switch games.

@ryarmadillo Could you take the back off the TV and upload pictures of the circuit boards inside? Voeg afbeeldingen toe aan een bestaande vraag

@ryarmadillo Yeah, 4K is more intensive on the main processor. If it doesn't have a heatsink, it might be good to add one.

Right. Many people said to me that it is a panel issue and to buy a new tv. I truly doubt that as it works fine at 1080p. I am going to do a bit of research about where the cpu is. I recently replaced thermal pads on my Xbox one x and have leftovers from that project. It’s a really premium thermal pad so I believe that it will do superb with the tv. I am also getting a 1080p fire stick for my 32” Samsung tv as Hulu and Netflix no longer work on it. I’m going to plug that in and see if that also makes the lines not appear. I really do think that it’s just overheating and the processor can’t do its job correctly which causes the lines to form. Also gets quite warm on top. Thanks for your help I really do appreciate it.

@andrewsawesome tomorrow I would be able to send the inside of the tv. I’ll look into adding a thermal pad then trying 4k. If that doesn’t work I’ll add a photo.
