No display, has backlight. Has good vga out to another monitor.

I took my ibook A1133 apart to install a larger hard drive and when put it back together no video to display. Connected another monitor and video works fine there. When I moved the display lid up and down sometimes causes the ibook to shut down. Tried resetting power management to reset it but did not help. Evidently there is a hardware problem. I did notice that on the left side at the hinge the black microphone wire was damaged showing bare wire and also the covering of the video cable was damaged but no notable damage to the wires. Is it the data cable or something else? Since the movement of the lid brings up a shut down box, is there something wrong with the sleep mode? Thank.

You'll have to remove the top case and double check internal cables connections. Pay a special attention to the LVDS (video) cable connection to the logic board (it's near the modem and the airport/bluethoot card). Also check that the power switch cables (blue & white cables upper left of the case) are not pinched by a screw when reinstalling the top case.

Thanks but the top case was not touched. Would seem unusual that started by opening the bottom case only.

Well, you need to remove the ibook top case to replace the hard drive. That's what you did ? No ? Now when reassembling the machine a problem could happen with the cables.
