TV switches between start up screen and hdmi and remote won't respond.

What is the model number of the TV?
How are you turning on the TV, with the remote or the Power button on the TV?
Try removing the batteries from the remote and using the TV controls and check.
Also unplug any HDMI cord from the TV and check if it starts normally.
