Why does my PS3 say: Access to the hard disk is not possible?

I bought an old PS3 with backwards compatibility, but it doesn't work. First it was stuck in an update loop, giving me a 8002F0C1 error code.

I reformatted the hard disk to an empty FAT32 disk, but the PS3 doesn't pick it up. It starts up, doesn't show any picture, waits a while and then turns off.

I've now started the PS3 in Safe Mode and try to Restore Default Settings, Restore File System, Rebuild Data Base and Restore PS3 System.

But while trying to rebuild the database I get the message that access to the hard disk isn't possible. And when trying to Restore File System I get the 8001002B error code.

Can anyone help me with what's going on?
