Factory reset lost os won't boot how to fix this
I factory reset my HP laptop not lost os and won't boot can I fix in command prompt if so how

What do you see on your screen? Step us through the sequence so we can figure out what is happening. A reset should just work fine>

You'd know better than me, but if the recovery partition was missing/corrupted etc, would the factory reset fail and the OS settings (MBR/GPT?) be lost in the HDD so that the BIOS can't find it.
May be easier to use a recovery USB.

I was just trying to ascertain what the user was seeing so to perhaps simplify the repair. As far as I know the BIOS sees the drive's onboard controller - doesn't matter format, etc.
But yes I agree with you. I always use the USB method if possible.

Fair enough.
My thinking was that perhaps the BIOS could see the HDD but couldn't boot due to corrupted OS and if the recovery partition was corrupted as well you couldn't even get into recovery mode. If the MBR was corrupted for example.
