Looking for insightful info about repairing & upgrading

In these trying times I find myself not wanting to throw out an old machine or buy a new one just yet - I have always liked reusing things so I'm researching this same topic

I have a dead MacBook Pro 10,1 with a perfect screen and case and would like make a frankenmac I'm only finding 11,2 and 11,3 which I know been able to determine which different plugs the monitor vs the body have that are incompatible parts...

If its just the webcam that's incompatible I can live without that - but the power and video of course need to match - but I can't find info on specifically what has changed

Does anyone know where I can look for that? Thanks!

Your expectation of being able to swap parts around is just not possible with the A1502 13" MacBook Pro series

  • The sub version MacBookPro10,2 parts are interchangeable only within the 2012 & Early 2013 models.
  • And these sub versions MacBookPro11,1 parts are likewise only interchangeable within the Late 2013 & Mid 2014.
  • And MacBookPro12,1 is unique to the Early 2015 models and parts are likewise only interchangeable within Early 2015 system.

One last point: The 11,2 and 11,3 are 15" models not 13" and their parts are unique to them selves.
