Hi,

Does this occur mainly when used indoors or outdoors or both?

5G is less effective when used indoors as the building infrastructure makes it harder for the signals to penetrate than say lower frequencies used by 4G and more so 3G.

It may also depend on the coverage provided by your service provider as to how many 5G antennas are provided in the various locations to get the best coverage.

Maybe check the coverage map for 5G from your provider. You may be on the edge of the coverage area and be getting a weaker signal for example

@jayeff It doesn't really matter if I'm inside or out. It's very slow even when the same kind of phone next to me is working fine.

Try using the phone in safe mode and check if it is any better.

It may be that there are apps downloading data in the background, unbeknownst to you and this is slowing things down.

Alternatively go to Settings > Connections → Data usage → Data saver and enable it and check performance.

Basically the two options above do the same thing i.e. prevent data usage by apps without you knowing about it and also it helps to work out if it is a downloaded app or not that may be causing the problem

The difference is that with safe mode, downloaded apps i.e. apps that you downloaded and installed and not ones that were already installed will not be loaded on startup so that they can download in the background. Not all downloaded apps do this of course. Depends on how they're designed to function by the developer of the app.

With data saver it means that the apps are still able to be used but you will get a message about going "online" (or similar) as they won't work until you do. All you have to do is to enable the data saver feature which usually can also be found in the Notifications shortcuts area and restart the app. You can also set individual permissions for each app as well
