so i've has this laptop and issue for a while, it started as some dead pixels on the corner of my screen and slowly spread outwards until the entire screen turns white upon boot. i recently decided to power the laptop on again and using an hdmi cord to plug it in to a TV which worked perfectly

When you start getting dead pixels like that spreading over the screen, it's the display that is broken. Since the rest of the computer works, you will have no problem at all using the computer itself.
The first solution and the one I think is the best is to replace the screen with a working one, I can't really recommend a specific replacement for you but it should be possible to find one.
If you aren't planning to use it as a laptop and taking it with you to different places, instead most use it at home or a specific place. I wouldn't say there is any reason to replace the screen since you could just use an external monitor.
