Won’t boot after logic board replacement.
Just did a straight swap of my logic board(820-3330-B) and it doesn’t recognize drive. Repaired with DU, with no results.

Logic board swap out:
As you are running Catania your drive is running APFS. So a common issue is the replacement logic boards firmware is still the older version so it doesn’t know how to boot up under the newer macOS. I would use a bootable OS installer USB thumb drive to re-install the OS so the installer updates the systems firmware.
SATA cable issue:
This tended to be an issue with early versions of the system as Apple used at the time a SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) HDD and the cable was not able to support the higher data rate of the better 3rd party SATA III (6.0 Gb/s) HDD’s.
To add to it this cable is fragile! Your Hard Drive Cable Is A Ticking Time Bomb
As such when ever I replaced the drive with a SSD drive I always replace the cable as any defect in the cable will make you pullout your hair!
But, you also need to not man-handle the cable! As that too will damage it. Don’t crease the cable as people tend to do that for the areas the cable needs to bend. Creasing the cable damages the thin foil wires within the ribbon cable. Instead I use an old BIC pen ink straw making sure the bends don’t exceed the radius of the straw. I use the straw to help form the curl.

So yeah, I dug a bit deeper and a notification popped up when I tried to reinstall Catalina that says I have to update the firmware. It wont allow me to even mount the drive until I do that I assume. Is there a firmware update that apple offers? The cable seems to be fine as I can clearly see and scan the SSD with DU in recovery mode.
If you create a High Sierra image that should update the firmware.@criticalmass316

Using a second Mac download the macOS installer of the OS you want or at least get Mojave from here How to get old versions of macOS and then create a USB Thumb drive OS installer (32GB) first by formatting it to GUID and a Journaled file system using mac Disk Utility then follow this guide How to create a bootable macOS Mojave installer drive

I did not replace the sata cable. The OWC ssd drive shows up in disk utility. It’s just not booting from it. Tried resetting password via terminal, nvram. I could try cloning it and then wipe it and do a fresh install. Just wanted to avoid it if possible.

Do you have a second SATA drive? if so you could try swapping it out and installing Catalina on that and see if it works. You could also try a new SATA cable.
