Won't boot after battery replacement
I purchased a replacement battery from ifixit and proceeded with the replacement. In the process, some damage occurred to the ribbon cables attached to the fans. For one fan, the tiny plastic lock for the ribbon cable broke off when I tried to close it, but the ribbon is still inside the plug. The other fan cable is fine, but I noticed some of the metal contacts inside the plug came out for one of the pins. The contacts are super tiny and I couldn’t get them back into the plug. I still returned the ribbon cable to the plug. So, 1 fan ribbon cable is inserted without the locking bar and the other ribbon cable is inserted and locked but likely with the leftmost pin inactive.
Didn’t think I could do anything about those fan cables, so I closed the laptop up and started charging the battery. Got to 100% and the computer was running as expected. Then I followed the directions to discharge the batter fully. Unfortunately, the computer will not boot. No amount of holding the power button works. I can however hear the fan trying to spin up. It clicks on for about 1 second, turns off and repeats infinitely. Also, charging the battery hasn’t resulted in the green light turning on at the magsafe plug since disharging fully. I would have expected the battery to be charged by now. Is the batter bad or are the fan plugs preventing booting?
